TAIZ, Nov. 19 (YPA) – Armed clashes erupted on Wednesday between UAE-backed forces loyal to Tariq Saleh, and tribal gunmen in the Al-Waziyah district, west of Taiz governorate.
A well-informed local source reported that the clashes broke out after a military campaign by Saleh’s forces arrived in the Al-Hadara area of Al-Waziyah from the city of Mocha. This followed the tribal gunmen’s interception on Tuesday of a team from the ADRA relief organization and the seizure of equipment and documents in their possession.
According to the source, the tribal gunmen stopped the organization’s team after receiving complaints from residents accusing the organization of registering ineligible families on aid beneficiary lists and neglecting poor and needy families in Al-Waziyah.
The atmosphere remains tense in the area, with armed tribesmen deployed in mountainous positions overlooking the district center since early morning. No casualties have been reported as a result of the clashes, which were described as limited.
