Hebrew Media: Significant increase in reverse migration from “Israel”

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Nov. 16 (YPA) – Hebrew newspaper “The Marker” revealed an unprecedented wave of Israeli settlers leaving the country over the past two years, amid escalating government attacks on law enforcement institutions and the judiciary.

According to the report, the occupation government, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, continues to deflect attention from its responsibility for security failures by refusing to form an independent commission of inquiry into the events of October 7th and by pursuing an escalating approach targeting the judiciary, the police, and the media.

The report argues that the occupation government’s continued existence, despite its failures in various areas, is driving thousands of settlers to frustration and the choice to leave.

Official data shows that 6,016 Israelis have been leaving monthly since the formation of the current government, which is nearly double the rate of departure during the previous four years. Net departures (those leaving minus those returning) have risen to 3,910 individuals per month, compared to an average of 1,146 per month before the formation of this government.

The figures indicate that most of those leaving are young and educated, with a notable increase in the exodus of residents from occupied Jaffa (Tel Aviv) in particular. According to data released last week by the Central Bureau of Statistics, the percentage of those leaving Tel Aviv reached 14% in 2024, compared to 9.6% in 2010.

Conversely, occupied Jerusalem witnessed a decrease in the exodus rate from 11.8% in 2010 to 6.5% in 2024.

These trends reflect the widening gap between the liberal and conservative currents within Israel, as the rates of departure from Tel Aviv are rising while they are declining in Jerusalem.

According to the report, the occupation government shows no concern regarding the departure of approximately 200,000 Israelis since it came to power, whereas it has not held an official discussion on the phenomenon, declared a state of emergency, or taken any steps to prevent its continuation.

The report warns that the continuation of the political crisis and deep internal division, along with the erosion of trust in the government and state institutions, will accelerate the pace of emigration while the government continues to evade opening an investigation into the failures of October 7 and the repercussions of the longest and most decisive war in the history of (Israel).
