Parliament condemns Security Council’s decision to renew sanctions on Yemen

SANAA, Nov. 16 (YPA) – The Sanaa-based Yemeni Parliament condemned on Sunday the UN security council resolution renewing the unjust sanctions on Yemen for another year.

In a statement, the Parliament also denounced the security council’s transformation into a tool being manipulated by the United States to serve Zionist and Western agendas.

According to the official Saba News Agency, the statement convicted also the security council’s policies and double standards regarding Yemen and the issues of the Arab world, which contradict the will of free peoples who reject injustice and Zionist-Western hegemony.

It pointed out that the security council, which has remained silent and inactive regarding the war crimes committed against the Palestinian people for over two years using internationally prohibited American weapons and bombs, is the same council that has stood idly to the Israeli enemy that its aggression and recklessness prevailed in the region.

It also criticized the council’s shameful silence on the crimes committed by the US-British-backed Saudi-Emirati coalition and the blockade imposed on the Yemeni people for over ten years.

The parliament’s statement concluded that this council has continued its biased policies in favor of the Zionist lobby, setting the worst example of double standards.

It pointed out that the security council, which has been turning a blind eye to the genocidal crimes in Gaza and the region, is now a key and active partner in aiding the criminal Zionist occupation entity and justifying its crimes against the Yemeni and Palestinian peoples.

The statement added that the security council has been working to serve as a tool to cover up the ongoing aggression and blockade against Yemen, in blatant violation of international and humanitarian values, principles, and laws

The House of Representatives affirmed that this council has become a pliant tool in the hands of the Zionists, the Americans, and their regional proxies, warning the security council against the consequences of persisting in its double standards regarding the issues and grievances of the Arab and Islamic nations, particularly the suffering of the Yemeni and Palestinian people.

It clarified that the security council should have been enforcing international law by holding Zionist war criminals accountable for the war crimes they have committed in Yemen, Palestine, and several other countries in the region.

The parliament’s statement reaffirmed Yemen’s firm and stance to support the issues of the nation, and its commitment to confronting all external conspiracies and schemes that target the homeland, its unity, security, sovereignty, and stability.
