GAZA, Nov. 15 (YPA) – The Gaza Municipality confirmed on Saturday that the suffering of the people of the Gaza Strip is worsening due to the storm and the catastrophic conditions caused by the two-year-long Israeli war.
In a televised statement, the municipality explained that the rainwater drainage networks in the Strip are destroyed, causing sewage to overflow.
It indicated that sewage and waste are flooding homes and shelters, calling for urgent international intervention to address the situation.
It said: “We have plans to combat storms and help people, but we don’t have the equipment to do so.”
The storm has exacerbated the suffering of tent dwellers in the Gaza Strip, as the fragile tents of the Gaza Strip could not withstand the first drops of rain; some tore within minutes, while water flooded their floors, leaving families exposed without any cover.
In moments, the worn fabrics that constitute their only shelter turned into pools of mud that trapped the children’s feet and soaked the heads of mothers who tried in vain to protect what remained of the bedding.
