BERLIN, Nov. 15 (YPA) -German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced that Germany would allocate at least 150 million euros ($175 million) in military aid to Kiev under the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative.
“This fall, Germany has already taken on the financing of a large PURL package worth 500 million euros, and now there is another piece of news,” Pistorius said at a press conference after the Group of Five meeting in Berlin on Friday.
“Yesterday I had contact with Mark Rutte, NATO Secretary General, and we agreed to participate with at least 150 million euros. And here we continue to move forward,” he said.
In early August, Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that the United States and NATO had launched a new mechanism to support Ukraine through the PURL initiative, which aims to expedite weapons deliveries via voluntary contributions from alliance members.
On September 2, Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren stated that NATO countries had already purchased $2 billion worth of lethal and defensive weapons from the United States for Ukraine under the PURL initiative.
