Senior political official commits suicide inside Taiz Political Security prison

TAIZ, Nov. 13 (YPA) – A senior political official committed suicide inside the ‘Political Security’ prison affiliated with the Islah group in Taiz province.

Local sources said that ‘Mujahid Al-Shaibi’, who were jailed in Political Security prison, and a close associate of Islah party leader Hamoud Al-Mikhlafi, allegedly hanged himself with a rope in his cell under mysterious circumstances.

Additionally, Al-Shaibi was accused of assassinating Taiz’s security director Abdullah Al-Naqeeb’ in the middle of Jamal Street last August.

Ezz Al-Din Al-Mikhlafi, one of activists, accused Islah members of murdering Al-Shaibi inside the prison, while others believe he was not involved in the assassination of Al-Naqeeb, who led a major security campaign against gangs and drug dealers in areas under the control of the Islah group in Taiz before his assassination.
