SANAA, Nov. 05 (YPA) – The agricultural authorities in the Sanaa government have announced the successful cultivation of the best global varieties of sunflower in Jawf governorate.
This project aims to achieve self-sufficiency in healthy cooking oils and enhance food security in Yemen, as part of a national strategy to reduce reliance on imported oils. 
Ali Bin Thaibah, an advisor to Jawf governorate, confirmed that the cultivated varieties are distinguished by their high quality and ability to adapt to local conditions.
The project is expected to contribute to providing a sustainable local source for cooking oils, diversifying the economic base, and creating new job opportunities.
Work is currently underway to reclaim vast areas of land for the cultivation of more distinguished varieties.
This achievement represents a milestone in the path toward achieving food security and lays the foundation for a promising national industry in the field of vegetable oil production.
