MARIB, Nov. 06 (YPA) – A military checkpoint commander belonging to factions loyal to the Saudi-led coalition was killed on Thursday in armed clashes that erupted near the Safer market, east of Marib city, which is controlled by Islah Party’s factions.
A well-informed local source reported that the clashes broke out between tribal gunmen from the Al-Thabiti clan of the Al-Abdiyah tribe and members of a military checkpoint at the Safer intersection. The fighting resulted in at least three deaths, including the checkpoint commander, Abdullah Al-Washah, as well as two tribal gunmen. Several others sustained injuries.
The source was unable to determine the immediate motives or background that led to the armed clashes, which occurred amidst ongoing tensions between tribal fighters and members of coalition-backed factions.
