WORLD, Oct. 31 (YPA) – Social media platforms have witnessed an unprecedented wave of anger against the UAE after being accused of supporting the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) involved in war crimes in Sudan.
The hashtag #BoycottUAE has topped social media platforms in recent days as part of a global campaign demanding accountability from Abu Dhabi for what activists describe as its “direct involvement in fueling regional conflicts and financing the ongoing genocide in El Fasher.”
According to the activists, what is happening is no longer a “policy disagreement,” but rather a “revelation of an approach that sows chaos in the name of stability and funds wars under the banner of peace.”
In Sudan, particularly in the devastated city of El Fasher, users have likened what is happening there to “another Gaza,” amid a severe humanitarian deterioration and a continuous flow of weapons and external funding fueling the armed conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
US intelligence agencies say the United Arab Emirates sent increasing supplies of weapons including sophisticated Chinese drones to the RSF over the past few months, according to a report published on Tuesday by the Wall Street Journal.
The Department of Defence’s intelligence agency and the State Department’s intelligence bureau both reported an increase in the flow of weapons from the UAE to the rebel group that has been accused of committing genocide in Darfur.
