GAZA, Oct. 26 (YPA) – The Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement affirmed on Sunday that the movement’s founder, the martyred leader Dr. Fathi Shaqaqi, represented a “milestone” in the Palestinian struggle.
This came on the thirtieth anniversary of his treacherous assassination by Mossad in Malta.
In a news statement, the movement noted that Shaqaqi and his comrades worked to highlight the danger of the Zionist entity, describing it as “the spearhead of the Western colonial project.”
The statement reiterated its commitment to the fundamental principles launched by Shaqaqi, in the centrality of the Palestinian cause to the Arab and Islamic nation, and jihad and resistance is the only way to confront the Zionist project.
It explained that Shaqaqi’s thought bore fruit in the steadfastness of the Al-Quds Brigades in Gaza and the West Bank, emphasizing that the Brigades were at the forefront of engagement and defense of holy sites, most notably Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The statement also affirmed in conclusion that it would continue to adhere to its principles and would spare no effort to halt the aggression against Gaza, allow aid into the Strip, enforce the occupation’s withdrawal, rebuild, and restore internal unity.
