GAZA, Oct. 26 (YPA) – Khalil Al-Hayya, head of Hamas in Gaza, on Saturday stated that the group’s weapons are “linked to the existence of the occupation” and would revert to a Palestinian state if it ends, Al Jazeera reports.
In his recent remarks Al-Hayya said that “the occupation failed to achieve its goals over two years of war. President Trump said the war was over, and every day we hear American statements that the war is over.”
He stressed that the group will not give the occupation a pretext to resume the war.
Al-Hayya also highlighted the group’s commitments to ceasefire’s terms, saying, “We handed over 20 “Israeli” captives 72 hours after the ceasefire. We handed over 17 out of 28 bodies of the occupation’s captives.”
The group will begin searching for Israeli captives’ bodies in new areas Sunday and accepts UN forces as ceasefire monitors.
Regarding the ceasefire, Al-Hayya said, “We agreed with the Fatah Movement on the issue of UN forces for separation and monitoring the ceasefire. We agreed with all factions that the mission of the UN body is reconstruction in Gaza.”
He also noted that targeting Doha and the disastrous and unprecedented failure in the history of “Israel” constituted a setback for the occupation.
Al-Hayya emphasized that Gaza needs 6,000 aid trucks daily — not the current 600 — accusing “Israel” of acting “as if we are still in the middle of a war.”
