SHABWA, Oct. 25 (YPA) – Human rights sources have revealed that a detainee called ‘Mohammed Al-Haisalan,’ a deputy principal of a school in the city of Ataq, the center of Shabwa Governorate in southeastern Yemen, was transferred to the Shabwa General Hospital in a grave condition.
The sources clarified that Al-Haisalan was subjected to “excessive and brutal psychological and physical torture” inside a detention center run by the “Morality Police” (or Vice Police) in Ataq, which is controlled by UAE-backed factions.
The torture was reportedly an attempt to extract confessions from Al-Haisalan regarding accusations of blackmailing a 14-year-old minor, exploiting his position as a teacher and administrative official at the school, according to the sources.
The sources noted that visible signs of beating were evident on various parts of the detainee’s body upon his transfer to the hospital, indicating that the “Morality Police” personnel had utilized all means of torture against him.
