TAIZ, Oct. 23 (YPA) – A massive protest march was staged on Thursday in the city of Al Turbah, the center of Al-Shamayatayn district, south of Taiz province.
In the march, hundreds of men and women rallied to demand justice and retribution for the killers of Iftihan Al Mashhari, the director of the province’s Cleanliness Fund, and all perpetrators of murders who have escaped punishment.
They set off from the Al-Shamayatayn Security director, which is under the control of the Islah factions loyal to the coalition, and proceeded to the Al Hujriya Courthouse, carrying slogans calling for the swift trial of the perpetrators and an end to the chaos and security chaos in Taiz.
Protesters raised their voices, demanding also the immediate release of all detainees, abductees, and those forcibly disappeared in the Al-Shamayatayn and Al Muqatra districts.
The participants emphasized that justice would not be achieved unless criminals be held accountable and injustice and lifted from the innocent.
They stressed that their movements would be continued until all their demands be met and the security and judicial chaos in the region ends. This march comes as an escalation of popular pressure aimed at ending the phenomenon of assassinations and crimes targeting public figures and citizens in these areas due to the absence of state authorities since 2016.
