500 hikers evacuated from Mount Rinjani in Indonesia

SANAA, July 31(YPA) – More than 500 hikers and tourists were evacuated on Monday from Mount Rinjani on Indonesia’s tourist island of Lombok, after a deadly earthquake triggered landslides that trapped them on the mountain.

543 people were evacuated from Mount Rinjani, including 189 foreign tourists, 173 Indonesian tourists, 31 local tourist guides and 150 local porters,” The national disaster agency  Said .

Six people, three from Jakarta residents (two men and one woman), two local porters and a local guide, are still stranded in the Lake Segara Anak area near Mount Rinjani, the agency added.

It also said that 12 rescuers are heading to this area to evacuate them.
