Aden Electricity Corporation warns of imminent “total blackout” due to fuel depletion

ADEN, Oct. 10 (YPA) – The Aden Electricity Corporation announced on Friday the complete and imminent halt of all power generation stations in the city.
The corporation warned that Aden is at risk of a total power outage within the coming hours due to the complete depletion of fuel allocated for operating the stations.

In an official statement, the corporation confirmed that the main reason for the shutdown is the total exhaustion of the fuel reserves, noting that the Saudi-led coalition-backed government has failed to respond to repeated appeals launched over the past months.

The statement noted that all diesel-fueled power generation stations have gone completely out of service. The only remaining operational capacity is from the “Petromasila” station, which is running partially, along with just three generators at the Al-Mansoura station, which are expected to stop tomorrow, Saturday, if not refueled. Electricity service will be limited to the solar power plant during daylight hours only.

The corporation called on the pro-coalition “Presidential Leadership Council” and the government to urgently intervene to provide the necessary operating fuel for the stations, warning of serious humanitarian and service consequences if the crisis persist.

It is noteworthy that the city of Aden is already experiencing a severe deterioration in electricity service, with power cuts exceeding 13 hours per day compared to only two hours of generation, exacerbating the suffering of residents amid the continuous decline in living and economic conditions.
