SANAA, Oct. 09 (YPA) – The Yemen Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control Organization (YSMO) in Sanaa warned on Wednesday citizens and merchants against purchasing or trading in a banana and strawberry-flavored chewing gum product, due to its proven violation of approved standard specifications and consumer safety.
In a statement, the YSMO explained that the product violates consumer health and safety requirements and lacks basic information such as the product name, variety, brand, and nutritional data.
It also lacks any documentation proving the origin of the product for both varieties. Furthermore, the label lacks the mandatory warning regarding the use of artificial colors and their impact on activity and concentration in children.
The statement noted the lack of documentation of the batch number, scientific name, or international food additive number, as well as the use of general terms such as “healthy flavors” and “healthy dyes” without scientific documentation.
The organization emphasized that the circulation of this product violates applicable regulations, calling on everyone to avoid purchasing or distributing it and to report any cases of its presence in the market.
