Activists stop truck traffic at Australian port to reject commercial collusion with Israel

SANAA, Oct. 05 (YPA) – At least 20 activists from the Whistleblowers, Activists and Communities Alliance (WACA) stopped truck traffic at the Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT) at Webb Quay in the Port of Melbourne, Australia, as part of a campaign demanding an end to all forms of trade with the Israeli occupation.

Eighteen activists wore red jumpsuits reading “We are all Palestine” and chained themselves to barrels on the gangways and truck gates inside the quay. Vehicles belonging to the group also blocked the road leading to the gates, disrupting the passage of trucks.

The activists raised banners bearing slogans denouncing the crimes of the occupation and demanding an end to trade cooperation with it, indicating that this step is part of a “popular siege” aimed at stopping the flow of trade that enables and supports the genocide against Palestinians.

WACA confirmed that the majority of the Australian people support imposing sanctions on the occupation, while the Australian government continues to be inactive and not take serious steps.

The statement indicated that the VICT terminal still allows shipping companies linked to the occupation to operate in the port, including the Zionist company Zim Shipping and its partners MSC, Maersk, and Toll Group.
