In Video: Power plant worker in Hadramout uses ‘wooden stick’ to operate generators

HADRAMOUT, Oct, 03 (YPA) – A worker at the Al-Qatan power station in Yemen’s oil-rich Hadramout province, controlled by the Saudi-led coalition, has revealed alarming situation that could lead to deadly accidents.

In a video circulating on social media on Friday, the unnamed worker said staff carry out daily operations amid a near-total absence of basic occupational safety measures, explaining that they are forced to turn the large electric generators on and off using a ‘wooden stick’ as an improvised and unsafe tool.

He pointed out that this rudimentary method puts their lives at daily risk of electric shock and serious injuries.

This revelation underscored the extent of negligence in one of the most critical energy generation facilities in the oil-rich province.

The continued use of such methods poses a dual threat to both the lives of the workers and the stability of the electrical service, potentially leading to a humanitarian or technical disaster with dire consequences.
