TAIZ, Oct. 01 (YPA) – A security official loyal to the Saudi-led coalition was killed on Wednesday by tribal gunmen at the entrance to Al-Turbah city, the center of Al-Shamayteen district in Taiz province.
Informed sources confirmed that clashes erupted between tribal gunmen from the Al-Zarayqa clan and security personnel loyal to the Islah Party-affiliated factions controlling the area. The fighting resulted in the death of the Deputy Commander of the Security Campaign, identified as “Mohammed Al-Rumaih,” who held the rank of Captain.
The sources indicated that the tribal gunmen were attempting to storm the electricity corporation in Al-Turbah in protest of the death of “Soldier Yassin Thabet Al-Zurayqi” on Tuesday, who died from an electric shock. The gunmen accuse one of the local power generation stations of being responsible for the incident.
It was noted that the attempt by Al-Zarayqa gunmen to enter the city by force of arms escalated tensions, leading to the killing of Al-Rumaih and the injury of others from both sides. These developments occur amidst the escalating security chaos in areas of Taiz under the control of coalition-backed factions.
