Sanaa appreciates Algeria’s “honorable” role in supporting Palestinian cause at international forums
SANAA, Oct. 01 (YPA) – The Republic of Yemen, represented by the Sanaa government, praised Algeria’s honorable stances in supporting the oppressed Palestinian people at international forums, particularly through its current membership in the UN Security Council.
This appreciation came in a letter sent by Abdulwahid Abu Ras, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the Sanaa government, on Wednesday to his Algerian counterpart, Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf.
In his letter, Abu Ras emphasized that these Algerian positions are an extension of decades of support and solidarity, recalling the slogan raised by the leaders of the Algerian revolution: “Algeria’s independence is not complete without the independence of Palestine,” a sentiment affirmed by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
He also noted that Algeria declared the establishment of the State of Palestine in 1988.
The Deputy Foreign Minister in Sanaa called for strengthening cooperation, coordinating positions, and unifying Arab and Islamic ranks. He also called for practical steps to halt the “crimes of the Zionist entity and its expansionist ambitions” targeting the entire region.
Abu Ras pointed out that this action is necessary in light of the continued US veto in support of the Israeli entity and the “UN Security Council’s failure to fulfill its obligations” to maintain international peace and security.
In conclusion, Abu Ras reiterated the Republic of Yemen’s continued support for all just causes of the Arab and Islamic nation, foremost among them the Palestinian cause.
