QUDS, Sept. 29 (YPA) –The Israeli occupation’s navy is conducting field exercises in preparation for seizing the Global Sumud Flotilla, which is expected to arrive off the coast of the Gaza Strip in four days, according to the Israeli media outlets reported on Monday.
The Israeli public broadcaster, Kan, stated that the Israeli naval commando unit has conducted field exercises in recent days, ostensibly to prepare for seizing ships at Sea, claiming that the exercises aimed to minimize harm to those involved.
The channel explained that these preparations came as the Flotilla was expected to reach the Gaza coast within four days, coinciding with the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur (Wednesday-Thursday).
Kan further claimed that the Israeli occupation has approached the flotilla organizers in recent days, proposing that humanitarian aid be transported through the port of Ashkelon, Cyprus, or even through the Vatican, but that the organizers rejected the offer, which the occupation considered a deliberate provocation.”
The Israeli news site Walla also reported that the Israeli Ministry of Health has raised the alert level at several hospitals, anticipating potential injuries resulting from possible confrontations with the flotilla, particularly given the limited staffing during the Yom Kippur holiday.
