San Marino officially recognizes State of Palestine

NEW YORK, Sept. 29 (YPA) -San Marino’s Foreign Minister Luca Beccari, officially announced on Saturday evening that his country recognizes the State of Palestine as a sovereign and independent state within secure and internationally recognized borders, in line with United Nations resolutions. Establishing a state is an inalienable right of the Palestinian people.

The recognition was made during his speech at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Minister Beccari stated, “The ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and the West Bank is unbearable and remains one of the most painful and protracted tragedies of our time.”

He reiterated the call for an immediate and lasting ceasefire, the release of hostages, and full, safe, and unhindered humanitarian access to affected civilians.  “Nothing can justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people through indiscriminate bombardment, starvation, and displacement,” he stressed.
