British Foreign Office warns of “absolute recklessness” of Israeli attack on Gaza

SANAA, Sept. 16 (YPA) – British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper described, in an official tweet, the new Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip as “absolutely reckless and appalling,” warning that it would lead to more bloodshed and the loss of innocent civilians, in addition to endangering the lives of detained prisoners.

Cooper stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all prisoners, the provision of unrestricted humanitarian aid to the residents of the besieged Strip, and work towards a lasting peaceful path to protect civilians and end the conflict.

She said: “The Israeli attack will only bring more death and suffering, and the international community must act immediately to ensure the safety of civilians.”

London’s position comes at a time when Gaza is being subjected to intense bombardment targeting residential neighborhoods, amid reports of rising civilian deaths and injuries, and hundreds of thousands internally displaced due to the massive destruction.

The Civil Defense in the Strip confirmed that victims continue to fall under the rubble, with warnings that the numbers could rise significantly in the coming days.
