HADRAMOUT, Aug. 31 (YPA) – More than 90% of schools, secondary institutions, and educational complexes across the coastal districts of Hadhramaut have joined a comprehensive and open-ended strike since the start of the academic year, according to the Teachers Syndicate in Hadramout Coast.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the Syndicate confirmed the general strike turnout indicates a strong sense of legal awareness among education sector workers in the governorate.
The syndicate emphasized that the teachers’ issue is a matter of rights, asserting that rights are not granted but must be fought for, with more solidarity and unity among teachers in all the coastal districts.
The statement further clarified that the strike will continue until all legitimate demands are met.
The syndicate had announced a general strike last July in protest against the deteriorating living conditions of teachers, following years of ongoing suffering and neglect of teachers’ rights by the government affiliated with the Saudi-led coalition.
