Four Israeli soldiers missing, dead after complex Hamas ambushes in Al-Zaytoun neighborhood

GAZA, Aug. 30 (YPA) -At least four Israeli soldiers have gone missing, and nine others have been wounded in carefully coordinated ambushes by al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), in Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, east of Gaza City.

The Hebrew media described the events as “difficult” and among the most challenging the army has faced since October 7, 2023.

According to reports, Israeli occupation forces from the 162nd Division and the 401st Brigade were lured into an area surrounded by civilian buildings, where they were attacked by armed Hamas fighters using explosives and medium-range weaponry.

The ambushes in Gaza left Israeli soldiers dead, wounded, and missing amid escalating battles in Gaza City.

Israeli rescue helicopters were seen flying  over Al Zaytoun neighborhood.

In response, the occupation military is said to be searching for four missing soldiers and has activated the “Hannibal Protocol,” which is used in suspected cases of abduction.

This protocol calls for intensive bombardment of the area to disrupt enemy efforts, a measure that has led to increased tensions and heavy fighting in the region.

Clashes are still ongoing in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood of Gaza after both sides received reinforcements. Israeli occupation is continuing its search for the four missing soldiers, while a fourth security event has been reported at an additional location in the southeastern part of the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood.
