WASHINGTON, Aug. 27 (YPA) – More than 100 U.S. Democratic lawmakers have sent a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, urging the U.S. administration to pressure “Israel” to lift the blockade on the Gaza Strip and allow humanitarian aid to enter.
The letter, led by Representatives Ayanna Pressley and Brittany Peterson, points to a worsening humanitarian crisis in the Strip, stating that over 20,000 children have received treatment for malnutrition, while at least 85 children have died from starvation.
The lawmakers indicated that the current number of aid trucks entering Gaza is insufficient to meet the basic needs of the population. “The average number of trucks that enter Gaza daily since late May is only 69 trucks, while the situation requires 500-600 trucks to meet the basic needs,” they explained.
They emphasized that the current crisis is a matter of access and political will, not a lack of resources.
