MAHRA, July 26 (YPA) — A senior official in Mahra province, eastern Yemen—which is under the control of Saudi-led coalition forces—provided an update Saturday on the detention of Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Zaidi, a prominent leader of the Khawlan Al-Tayyal tribe, who was arrested earlier this month at the Sarfait border crossing with Oman
“We reassure everyone that the case is being handled with rationality and balance,” Badr Salem Bin Kalshat, Mahra’s deputy for youth affairs wrote on X.
Kalshat added that the Sheikh Al-Zaidi’s case is advancing toward a resolution, with responsible efforts underway to protect rights and preserve lives.
He pointed out that Sheikh Al-Zaidi’s case is nearing a conclusion that will satisfy all parties without any neglect or injustice, according to his statement.
Kalshat’s announcement came following a massive tribal rally in the Sharza area of Khawlan, attended by hundreds of sheikhs, dignitaries, and members of Yemeni tribes, gave the coalition-backed local authorities and their armed factions in Mahra a three-day deadline for the release of Al-Zaidi, the leader of the Jahm tribe and one of the most senior sheikhs of Khawlan and Marib.
