SANAA, July 24 (YPA) – The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported a new maritime incident in the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen on Thursday.
The UKMTO said in a statement, “A Comoros-flagged vessel in the Red Sea was attacked by individuals on a wooden boat, and the Yemeni Coast Guard detained the vessel before releasing it.”
Reuters reported that the Yemeni Coast Guard, affiliated with Sanaa, released the ship after detaining it. Sanaa forces became suspicious of the vessel due to a malfunction in its AIS tracking system.
The UKMTO indicated that the ship was sailing north from the Horn of Africa and that it had traveled from Bosaso, Somalia, to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
