Lloyd’s List: Transits through the Bab el Mandeb are at normal levels

WORLD, July 16 (YPA) – Lloyd’s List magazine reported that shipping through the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb has seen little disruption despite recent Yemeni attacks on vessels linked to “Israel”.

The magazine confirmed that transits through the Bab el Mandeb are at normal levels, indicating that most ship operators remain confident in the continued safety of maritime operations.

Ship traffic through the Bab el Mandeb Strait rose to 244 last week, up from 232 the week before, indicating a gradual recovery after months of disruption due to regional tensions.

The magazine noted that many major companies that diverted their fleets early in the crisis have started returning to the Red Sea route since January, after conducting risk assessments and implementing extra security measures.

On the other hand, the magazine noted that operators who kept sailing through the region recently found no need to alter their routes, as the threats haven’t changed enough to justify avoiding the strategic passage.

This report comes amid ongoing attacks on vessels violating the ban on entering occupied Palestinian ports. Recent data underscores the maritime sector’s resilience and its capacity to sustain global supply chains despite changing conditions.
