Sanaa’s Foreign Minister meets with WFP’s high-level envoy

SANAA, July 15 (YPA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the Sanaa government, Jamal Amer, met on Tuesday with the World Food Programme (WFP) High-Level Envoy to Yemen, Abdullah Alwardat, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry for International Cooperation, Ambassador Ismail Al-Mutawakel.

During the meeting, Amer listened to a report from the high-level envoy on the efforts and endeavors made by the WFP in communicating with donor countries to resume funding for the program’s projects in Yemen.

Amer explained that the Government of Change and Reconstruction has begun to sense the WFP’s seriousness in addressing previous violations. He affirmed the government’s readiness to turn the page and open a new page based on transparency and credibility in dealings.

The foreign minister stressed the need for the WFP to play its role in ensuring the safety of any food shipment before it arrives at Yemeni ports, ensuring it complies with specifications and standards. This is a step toward strengthening the relationship between the government and the programme.

In turn, the WFP’s high-level envoy to Yemen expressed his appreciation to the ministry for the facilities it is providing to resume the program’s activities and projects there.
