SANAA, July 14 (YPA) – The Sanaa-based General People’s Congress (GPC) Party issued on Sunday a statement regarding the reason for former Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf who arrested in Aden port after his departure from the capital Sanaa.
In a statement the Sana’a-based Al-Mu’tamar Net website made, the General Secretariat of the GPC condemned the detention of General Committee’s member Hisham Sharaf by authorities at Aden Airport.
The statement noted that Hisham Sharaf had left Sanaa for medical treatment via Aden Airport, but failed to arrive on time before being detained at Aden Airport.
It expressed its regret for these actions, which paint a negative picture of Aden Airport and suggest it is no longer an airport for all Yemenis.
The statement noted that such actions constitutes a flagrant violation of Yemeni citizens’ right to freedom of movement and travel without restrictions.
The GPC’s statement called on the Aden authorities to the immediate release of Hisham Sharaf, holding the authorities responsible for his life, especially given his critical health condition.
