SANAA, July 10 (YPA) – The management of the Carthage International Festival in Tunisia announced the cancellation of French singer Hélène Segarra’s concert on Wednesday due to her support for Israel.
Tunisian activists launched a campaign on social media demanding the cancellation of the concert because of Segarra’s support for Tel Aviv.
The activists called on the festival management to back down from holding the concert, describing it as a “national duty” in light of what they considered attempts to promote normalization with Israel under the guise of art, according to an Anadolu Agency correspondent.
In a statement, the Carthage Festival management said “It has been decided to cancel Hélène Segarra’s performance as part of the festival’s 59th session.”
The concert was scheduled to take place on July 31, as part of this year’s festival, which runs from July 19 to August 21.
