Hadramout people refuse to transport crude oil to Aden refineries

HADRAMOUT, July 10 (YPA) – The people of Hadramout province have declared their absolute rejection of the transfer of crude oil from Al-Dabbah oil port to the refineries in the city of Aden, which is under Saudi-led coalition control in southern Yemen.

Local activists launched an online campaign on Wednesday under the hashtag “#NoOilWithoutHadramautRights,” protesting the pro-coalition government’s decision to transfer crude oil from the Al-Dabbah oil port on the Arabian Sea to the Aden refineries, ignoring the demands of Hadramout residents voiced during the July 2024 sit-ins.

The campaign organizers stated that the people of Hadramout would not allow crude oil to be exported from the port of Al-Dabbah, given the continued power outage in the province’s districts, which lasts for more than 18 hours a day.

They stressed the need to implement the announcement made by Rashad al-Alimi, president of the Leadership Council, in early January to allocate the proceeds of the crude oil stored in the Al-Dabbah reservoirs to construct a power plant for Hadramout.

It’s worth noting that Sanaa forces were able to halt the looting of Yemeni crude oil and sovereign wealth through the port of Al-Dabbah in Hadramout and the port of Al-Nushima in Shabwa, through military strikes carried out in October 2022. The goal of this move was to direct the revenues from these resources to serve Yemeni citizens and pay civil staff salaries, which had been suspended since late 2016.
