HADRAMOUT, July 08 (YPA) – A document revealed on Tuesday a suspicious deal to sell a piece of land in the old Mukalla port by Mabkhout bin Madi, the governor of Hadramout loyal to the Saudi-led coalition who has been detained in the Saudi capital since last April.
The document, issued by pro-coalition deputy speaker, Mohsen Basura, confirmed that the leader bin Madi is seeking to convert the grounds of the old Mukalla port into a residential land scheme for the benefit of influential figures.
The document, obtained by Yemen Press Agency (YPA), emphasized that the old port land should be transformed into public parks or allocated for educational and community service projects.
Activists in Hadhramaut have demanded an official probe into corruption allegations surrounding the old port lands, as well as properties in the Khor area and the Dairi road. They accuse local officials of embezzling millions of dollars through fraudulent land sales.
