Zionist defense minister acknowledges military failure in Gaza

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, July 07 (YPA) – Zionist defense minister Israel Katz acknowledged on Monday that the occupation army has failed to achieve its military goals in the ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip.

“There is a clear contradiction between the declared goals of the military operation,” he added.

Katz said in statements carried by Hebrew media that the occupation army has been unable to achieve a decisive defeat against Hamas and the Palestinian factions.

“Israel now finds itself facing a complex equation: continuing the war with the aim of ‘toppling Hamas’ on one hand, and seeking to recover prisoners held by the Palestinian resistance on the other,” Katz said.

He added, “There is a conflict between these two objectives, which is why it was decided to pursue a prisoner exchange deal with Hamas,’ referring to the intensive efforts to broker a swap due to setbacks in the military campaign.”

This is the first admission of its kind with such clarity, at a time when the Israeli occupation is facing increasing internal and external pressures, amid heavy military and human casualties in the ongoing aggression against Gaza, which has now lasted for more than 21 months.
