Trump: There could be a deal on a Gaza ceasefire by next week

WASHINGTON, July 05 (YPA) –  US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that there is a “real chance” for a Gaza ceasefire agreement to be reached by next week, citing a positive response from Hamas to Washington’s proposals.

“There could be a deal on a Gaza ceasefire by next week but that he had not been briefed on the current state of negotiations,” Trump told reporters, adding that Hamas’ reaction to the US-backed proposal had been “in a positive spirit.”

The remarks signal potential progress in US-led efforts to end weeks of deadly fighting in the Palestinian enclave, though details of the proposed agreement remain unclear.
