SANAA, July 01 (YPA) – The International Sociological Association (ISA) announced a historic decision to suspend the collective membership of the Israeli association from participating in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, due to its silence regarding the ongoing aggression against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
A statement from the International Sociological Association said: “As part of its public stance against the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, we have no institutional relationship with Israeli public institutions, and we regret that the Israeli Sociological Association has not taken a clear position condemning the tragic situation in Gaza.”
The statement continued: “In a decision that reflects the unusual severity of the current situation, the Executive Board has decided to suspend the collective membership of the Israeli Sociological Association,” which will be held this month.
The decision comes at a time of growing controversy over the participation of Israeli researchers in the upcoming scientific forum in Rabat, whereas the initial program of the event showed the presence of members of the Israeli Sociological Association, sparking angry reactions from Moroccan and international academics and human rights activists.
