British lawyer forced to resign from ICC under US pressure

THE HAGUE, June 30 (YPA) – International Criminal Court (ICC) official Andrew Cayley resigned under US threats as part of an effort to disrupt the investigation into war crimes and genocide committed by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip.

According to a report published by the Observer newspaper, Cayley, who oversaw the investigation, began receiving threatening phone calls while collecting testimony about the events of October 7, 2023.

The newspaper revealed that it met with British lawyer Cayley just one week after he left the ICC. He has only been back in London for a few days, and it is clear that he is still suffering from the effects of his experience.

Cayley oversaw the investigation into war crimes committed by the occupation for the ICC, a case that posed a serious challenge to the world’s only permanent war crimes court.

“It was the worst few months of my life,” said Cayley, now 61.
