HADRAMOUT, June 23 (YPA) – Rashad Al-Alimi, head of the “Presidential Leadership Council” loyal to the Saudi-led coalition has instructed the Central Bank in Hadramout to transfer 20 billion Yemeni riyals monthly to the bank in the city of Marib, which is under the control of the Islah Party, a well-informed banking source reported on Monday.
The source stated that “the directive was issued directly by Al-Alimi to the Hadramout Bank branches in both the coast and the valley to transfer the amount as part of what he called the central cash flow management plan for the southern governorates.”
He added that Al-Alimi’s order sparked widespread anger among Hadhrami communities, amid warnings against accepting this move, which is expected to directly worsen the deterioration of public services more broadly, without addressing local needs.
He added that Al-Alimi’s directive sparked angry reactions among Hadhrami circles, with warnings against accepting the move, which is expected to directly worsen the already deteriorating public services without meeting local needs.
The source pointed out that the relevant authorities in Hadramout have not issued any clarification regarding the fixed monthly transfer of 20 billion Yemeni riyals, nor have they disclosed the reasons behind the decision or the details of how the transferred funds will be used.
Basic services in Hadramout, including power and water, are steadily declining due to failing infrastructure and poor living conditions.
