Workers’ union issues stern warning to Aden’s pro-coalition government

ADEN, June 23 (YPA) – The Federation of Trade Unions in Aden and other southern provinces announced Monday evening that it has given the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition a deadline to meet workers’ demands until early August.

In a statement, the federation affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) threatened to uproot the “Leadership Council” and the pro-coalition government by organizing a large protest in front of Ma’ashiq Palace, the government headquarters in Aden, if the workers’ demands were not met.

It indicated that the upcoming escalation would be accompanied by bold decisions, calling on southern components and activists to actively participate in the protest.

The statement noted that among the proposals is the formation of what it called a “southern government” tasked with developing a strategy to extricate Aden and the rest of the provinces under the coalition’s control from the catastrophic conditions.
