Mass protest in Buenos Aires condemns Israeli aggression on Gaza

BUENOS AIRES, June 22 (YPA) – Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of the Argentine capital on Saturday in one of the largest protests in recent years, voicing strong opposition to Israel’s ongoing assault on the Gaza Strip, as well as to the international silence surrounding it.

The march, which began at the intersection of Callao and Corrientes streets and culminated in the historic Plaza de Mayo, was organized by the Independent Coordinating Committee for Palestine and the Argentine Committee for Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

It was supported by dozens of political and social organizations, including the campaign to expel the Israeli company Mekorot from Argentina, the Workers’ Party, Socialist Left, Socialist Workers’ Movement, Socialist Workers’ Party, National Encounter, Socialist Convergence, Workers’ Politics, and PSTU, along with several parliamentarians known for their advocacy of the Palestinian cause.

Protesters carried banners condemning the war crimes committed by “Israel” in Gaza, which have resulted in tens of thousands of Palestinian deaths, the widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure, the blockade of humanitarian aid, and violent attacks by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem.

They  also expressed strong disapproval of Argentine President Javier Milei’s recent visit to “Israel” and his vocal support for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s far-right government.
