China’s Permanent Representative to the UN: Israel’s actions endanger global peace
GENEVA, June 20 (YPA) – China’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Fu Cong, stated that “Israel’s actions endanger global peace, and China strongly condemned them.”
Speaking at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva on Friday, Fu Cong stated, ” The international community must reach a consensus on an immediate ceasefire, to avoid further escalation whose outcomes are unknown.”
He also pointed out that “attacking nuclear sites poses a serious risk that must not be allowed, emphasizing that “great powers should work towards de-escalation, not escalation.”
Fu Cong continued: “A peace plan for the Middle East must be developed in collaboration with the regional countries.”
He noted that “indiscriminate force is unacceptable, and the safety of civilians must be ensured at all times.”
The Chinese envoy emphasized that his country “is ready to help restore peace in the Middle East” and welcomed “the ongoing dialogue with Iran in Geneva.”
Earlier, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi affirmed on Wednesday that China “cannot sit idly by and let the region slide into an unknown abyss.”
Wang also stated that the right and wrong in the current situation are clear, asserting that Israel’s actions violate international law.
