Tehran shoots down eight drones, drawing on Yemen’s expertise

TEHRAN, June 16 (YPA) -Iran declared on Monday that it had shot down eight advanced Israeli drones, including a US-made MQ-9, in the west of the country near the Iraqi border.

The Iranian Tasnim news agency quoted the governor of the city of Dehloran, Latif Sadeghi, located near the Iraqi border, as saying, “Iranian air defenses shot down eight advanced Israeli drones while confronting terrorist attacks the Zionist occupation forces’ launching on various parts of the country.

He explained that “the unified air defense system successfully detected and targeted the hostile drones in the skies of Dehloran.”

The governor of Dehloran indicated that all the downed drones were equipped with advanced technology.

He stated that early Monday morning, an MQ-9 drone, an advanced US-made attack and reconnaissance drone, was intercepted and destroyed in the Ain al-Souleh area of the border town of Dasht-e Abbas in Dehloran Province.

Local sources confirmed that the attacks did not result in any human casualties, while air defense forces remain on high alert to deal with any new threats.
