Senior US official killed in Minnesota shooting

MINNESOTA, June 15 (YPA) – A senior Democratic congresswoman in the Minnesota State House of Representatives, Melissa Hortman, and her husband were killed on Saturday in a shooting.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced what appeared to be a politically motivated assassination.

He affirmed that another representative and his wife were also wounded in the attack before fleeing the scene after a gunman disguised as a police officer opened fire on them.

Tim Walz said that the gunman went to the Hortman family’s residence after shooting at Senator John Huffman and his wife multiple times.

“This horrific violence will not be tolerated in the United States of America,” he added in a statement.
