Sweden: Israel’s refusal to allow aid into Gaza is a war crime

STOCKHOLM, June 12 (YPA) – Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard said on Thursday that the Israeli occupation’s refusal to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza and its targeting of aid distribution sites constitutes a war crime, according to Agence France-Presse.

The minister noted in a press conference that “using the starvation of civilians as a tool of war is a war crime, and life-saving humanitarian aid must not be politicized or used as a weapon.”

Stenergard stressed “the importance of ensuring that food, water, and medicine quickly reach the civilian population, many of whom are women and children living in completely inhumane conditions.”

She added that “there are currently strong indications that Israel is not fulfilling its obligations under international humanitarian law.”
