Tehran threatens to target US bases in region

TEHRAN, June 11 (YPA) – Tehran has threatened to comprehensively target US bases in the Middle East if a confrontation with Washington erupts as a result of the failure of nuclear talks and the use of military force.

In a press statement on Wednesday, Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh confirmed that “Iran will target all US bases in the region if war is imposed on it,” pointing to the successful test of a powerful Iranian missile.

Nasirzadeh explained that the threats of military action by some officials would not prevent Iran from responding by striking pre-determined US bases, which could cause massive losses to the enemy.

He added that Iran is capable of targeting all US bases in host countries, which could force Washington to withdraw from the region.

The Iranian ministry also stressed that his country would not accept any restriction of its defensive capabilities or security.

Nasirzadeh concluded by emphasizing that the other side’s losses in the event of a conflict would be far greater than Iran’s and that any attack would be comprehensive and without hesitation.

The region includes numerous US air, naval, and land bases, most of which are located in the Gulf states close to Iran.

According to the US Department of Defense, there are currently 40,000 US troops in the Middle East. President Donald Trump has threatened to bomb Iran if a new nuclear agreement is not reached.
