SUCRE, June 10 (YPA) – Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Plurinational State of Bolivia condemned hijacking of the humanitarian aid ship “Madeleine” by the Israeli occupation on Monday, while it was heading to the Gaza Strip.
in a statement on Tuesday , the ministry said these actions constituted a serious violation of international law, the principles of the UN Charter, and the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people.
It stated that this new incident added to a series of systematic crimes the Israeli occupation’s committing, in a pattern of aggression, siege, and collective punishment against the Palestinian civilian population, as part of the genocidal war that has been complained about by several international organizations, including the International Organization for Justice.
Bolivia demanded the immediate lifting of the illegal blockade on Gaza, the release of detained activists, and the cessation of all acts of violence and military aggression against the Palestinian people.
It also called on the international community, particularly the United Nations, to take immediate and effective measures to ensure the protection of the Palestinian people and respect for international humanitarian law.
On Monday, Israeli naval forces intercepted the “Madeleine” relief ship, which was carrying activists and food supplies while heading to the Gaza Strip to break the Israeli blockade.
The Israeli forces escorted the ship to the Israeli port of Ashdod, after arresting its crew and those on board. The ship’s crew reported via their Telegram accounts that an Israeli military force had boarded the ship and arrested those on board. The ship was scheduled to arrive off the coast of Gaza at 2:00 AM.
