First time in memory: Aden’s beaches empty on Eid

ADEN, June 08 (YPA) – In an unprecedented scene, the coasts of Aden city appeared largely empty of visitors on the first day of Eid al-Adha—a first for the city, where the beaches are typically crowded during the holiday.

According to residents of the city, which is under the control of the Saudi-led coalition forces, Aden’s beaches were devoid of the usual crowds, a stark contrast to past holidays when the shores could barely accommodate the influx of visitors.

Observers attributed the lack of beachgoers to the city’s deteriorating security situation and worsening living and service conditions, which have discouraged residents of coalition-held provinces from visiting the coast this Eid.

Additionally, the worsening economic conditions of Aden’s own residents have stripped them of the joy and celebration typically associated with the holiday, amid complete inaction from the pro-coalition government to address or improve the situation.
