Meteorologists warn of high waves along all Yemeni coasts

SANAA, June 01 (YPA) – The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning issued urgent warnings on Sunday to beachgoers against swimming along all Yemeni coasts due to high waves.

In its weather forecast, the center also warned fishermen and ship captains of rising seas and turbulence at the entrance to Bab al-Mandab, the southern coasts, and around the Socotra Archipelago.

The center affirmed that strong winds may hit the entrance to Bab al-Mandab, the southern coasts, and around the Socotra Archipelago, with speeds ranging between 20 and 30 knots.

It forecast scattered showers on parts of provinces of Ibb, Taiz, Dhamar, Rayma, and Dhalea, Saada, Amran, Hajjah, Mahweet, Lahj, and Abyan.

The center renewed its warnings to citizens about the extremely hot weather, advising them to avoid direct sunshine during the afternoon and to drink plenty of fluids.
