Islamic centers in America targeted with Jewish symbols drawn on them
TEXAS, May 26 (YPA) – Three Muslim religious centers in Austin, Texas, were subjected to several assaults, with Jewish symbols, such as the Star of David, spray-painted on the billboards and entrance doors of the Nueces Mosque, the Ahlul-Bayt Islamic Society, and the Austin Religious Center.
This came in a statement issued yesterday, Sunday, by the Austin branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), an American organization that advocates for the civil rights of Muslims.
In its statement, CAIR said that three religious centers were subjected to “hateful” attacks and called on local authorities to take action to uncover those involved.
CARE also called for enhanced security measures at the three targeted sites, stating that these attacks were “hateful.”
The attacks on the three centers occurred simultaneously, indicating that the incidents were organized and deliberate, said Shaima Zayan, CARE’s Austin-based official.
She added that “the Nueces Mosque, in particular, is a spiritual and cultural center for students at the University of Texas at Austin.”
